Little one
such sweet innocence
again you ask me of your mother
with sad longing eyes
Once again I know not what to say
I just hold you in my arms
and tell you that she loves you
Again you look at her pictures
not understanding
Who the child is
that she holds in her arms
Seeing jealousy in such innocent eyes
Jealousy of your younger self
cracks my heart
Again with kisses
the pictures go back to the self
to await the next time
of sorrowful questions
Little one I dread the day
That I look into your eyes
And see sadness outweigh the longing
innocence lost
Some things should last forever
Few things ever do
Loved you then
Love you still
Through our love our son was born
Did I ever tell you thank you
You should see him now, he's growing so fast
he's so beautiful, so smart
Sometimes when he looks at me
I see you in his eyes
The other day he asked me where you were
I did not know what to say
So I told him you loved him
He looked at your pictures a long time
Then he kissed them and put them away
I cried a litte then
not so much for us as
for you and him
people like soap bubbles
pretty to look at
swirling multicolors catch your eye
look in there eyes
through the windows of the soul
no one looks back
crowds of empty people
wander hollow eyed
what have they done with there souls
are they just hidden
quaking from pain
were they stolen away
by a sneaking soul theif
did they die
bit by bit
some every day
leaving people like soap bubbles
swirling surface colors
with nothing inside
