The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

Dear Mum,

I've been busy with things, and nothing much of note has happened for several weeks. Work, sleep, work. I've been feeling like nothing more than a corporate tool, dancing for my crumbs. Actually, I've been putting in extra hours for a new TV. Thanks, Jeremy.

This morning, right before my shift ended at zero-five-thirty, just before dawn, I saw her.

Julia. She'd ghosted the store after I busted her little brother for shoplifting. I didn't think she would ever return. But there she was.

She noticed me walking the aisles, and even smiled at me! She was acting a little odd in the meats section, though, poking her fingers into steak packages, swirling them around in the juices, then licking them clean.

It's not the worst thing I've ever seen in the store. Once, a week before Halloween, I was walking past this large cardboard candy display shaped like a house. The kids could walk inside of it to hear some underpaid actor howl and cackle through cheap computer speakers hooked up to an mp3 player.

Some cardiologist's wife decided to hide out in there, dropped a deuce, then smeared it all over the bags of candy, as she ate from the bags of candy... As the cops perp-walked her out she shrieked about being possessed or something, then tried to piss on her husband who promptly called his lawyer to file for a divorce.

Anyway, in a weird way, Julia was gorgeous licking beef blood off of her fingers. I should have kicked her out for damaging product, but she looked at me from behind her loose, raven-colored locks, streaked with red, her bright, amber eyes glowing... She was hypnotic, and I think I fell for her right there.

Who am I kidding, I'm only a lumbering doofus security guard. Still, she was really polite. Nicer to me than anyone I've met in the last year. So, I tipped my ballcap and she smiled and twirled as she skipped out of the store, her finger in her mouth.

If I see her again, I think I'll ask her to a movie or something.
