I love sushi, but there's some sushi I just won't eat:

I was out playing poker a few nights ago and caught a TV spot for Skyline. I knew nothing about the movie.. Just what I saw on the spot, and I decided to go see it this weekend.
The movie is Sci-Fi Horror, a genre I really like and one that's pretty rare. Most movies in this genre suck due to poor effects or plot, but Skyline excels at both.
Think Cloverfield meets District 9.
The effects are *really* good. The plot is adequate. Unfortunately, the way it's written, there's really only one way for the movie the end (the way it actually ends), and it will leave you thinking, "WTF?!?!". You'll want more.
I doubt there'll be a sequel. Movies like this typically don't have sequels.
But overall I really enjoyed the movie.

My hubby wants to see Skyline too thinking it looked pretty cool.
Just seeing the trailers for this in the UK and I hope it wasn't the best bits!
Hmm, we see a movie about once a week, I'll have to go and check it out, sounds promising :)
Ya, that does look really good. Maybe we will go see it this weekend. Funny that is the name of the cigarettes I smoke. Marlboro Skylines.

Whats wrong with eating a baby shrimp? It no worse than kicking a baby kitten or something.....
But you are right, I wouldn't have the heart.

I agree! No eating something that can still move its legs and antenna while being eaten

I actually haven't seen that at a sushi place. I have seen the presentation of Ikizukuri, and a differed version, quick grilled and then sliced still breathing on your plate. Its ...Not the same as Sashimi to me. Were you at a place that was surving up Odori ebi?

Still. Alive. Shrimp. SO you can feel it wriggling behind your teeth.
*huuuuurp ... huurp huurp huuuuuuuurrrrrrrp*
Wow. And no thanks. That's just ... wrong. It may be an invertebrate ... but still. That's like taking a bite out of a baby and feeling it wiggle.

well...I dunno..I've been out fishing and eaten an oyster from the shell 2 seconds out of the sea...felt it move as I swallowed it (which was strange) so I'm thinking intoxicated shrimp would be the same - a little strange at first but the taste is great...
Then again, people eat live grubs in certain parts of the world so food that moves in the mouth as you bite or swallow isn't new. What I really, really cant do again is the tequila worm, its like biting through a bit of rubber :P

When I was in Japan, one of my poor friends fell victim to accidental consumption of live tiny shrimp. He didn't realize until after the first few bites that his meal was moving. Needless to say, it ruined his day.

After reading that I am not sure if I want to cry or gag with sheer repulsion of a live shrimp... being brutally butchered by someone's teeth chomping down on it.
It makes me shiver.
