I just got back from Torch Lake. I decided to come back tonight versus tomorrow, so that I could get a full day of work in on Tuesday.
It was very nice. The property is the summer home of the Mott/White family. The main residence is about 3500 square feet... 5 bedrooms, 4 bath, upstairs loft, typical Lake/Resort type home. Also on the grounds are 2 guest cabins, each having 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living room, kitchen, and a nice screened in front deck. The total acreage was probably about 30 acres... Which is a lot, considering the lake is surrounded by developed property.
The temperature was in the upper 60s which was comfortable. However the water was very cold... Somewhere in the upper 40s. It was too cold to jet ski, but I did go out kayaking on Sunday afternoon. I didn't find any time to fish.
Because only 6 of us went, we all stayed in the main house. My bedroom was beautiful - second floor with a walk-out balcony. Queen bed, 27" TV and beautiful antique furniture. Judging from the pink linens, it was probably a girl's room. When a guest, I have always preferred staying in a girl's room. The energy is different.
There was also a hot tub, of which I availed myself each night. Every evening the sky was clear, offering an unfettered view of the northern sky.
I have never met the family that owns this house. I have been invited back the weekend of July 4th. The Mott/White's will be there then so I'll probably go and meet them. This family has a larger vacation property in West Palm Beach, Florida to which I have also been invited in the future.
My association with this family is an odd one. My best friend's wife's former boss's wife grew up with Claire Mott who later married Bill White. They are an incredibly generous family. At some point in the future I hope to show my appreciation and gratitude.
Today I go on vacation. I'll be taking my motorcycle on a short trip. The ride will be about 6 hours each way. I've managed accommodations at a guest cabin on Torch Lake, on the property of the Mott family. The Mott's are a very rich family in lower Michigan. The local community college is named after the Philanthropist Charles Stuart Mott.
I'm told it's all very nice. I'll have access to the estate and all the toys (jet ski's, boats, etc). However I am just looking to relax and do some fishing.
I'll be back on Tuesday.

you should let people have unlinited messages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it sux!!!
I just got off the phone with my best friend. He's driving up tomorrow and will be staying until Friday. I haven't seen him in about a year.
I probably won't be on VR too much this week. I'll log in to check on VR Store orders and read messages, but not much more than that.
Today I need to get the boat in order... He wants to go out on the lake... Which is good... I'm ready to do some fishing.

whats my username and password????.
How is it that a person will do something utterly irresponsible and then receive praise for their actions?
How is it that so many people are so blind?
Well I am taking the afternoon off tomorrow to go see Star Wars episode 3. In my little town there are no matinee's during the week, so I was thinking I was going to have to hit a 7pm show... But it turns out the local cinema manager has some brains and is opening the place up tomorrow. The first screening is at 12pm and then every hour after that...
I think you are very attractive.all that this vampy girl would like to taste..(evil giggle) Hey,if you would like to chat , mail me at (blotted out)@yahoo.com.....love your pics, alot of talent there,....cyndi
I hate poor grammer and bad spelling.
Finally, FINALLY, after months and months of going through code line-by-line, I found the scripts that have been gobbling up the most server resources.
I've made quite a few changes to VR this weekend. Hopefully speed will dramatically increase. I still have a lot more to do.
It's unreal how bloated VR has become. What started out as 40-50 pages and a few hundred lines of code has turned into over 10,000 pages and several hundred thousand lines of code.
So I get up today, and the first thing I do nowadays is peek out the window... Check the weather... See if I can ride.
I awoke with a smile, bright blue sky and not a cloud in sight.
I got up, dressed, and ready for work.
I went outside and immediately saw my breath. My exact thought was, this is going to be a little chilly.
I made it about 2 miles out of town before my extremities started going numb. It was mostly just my legs and fingers. I installed a new windshield on my bike this year that protects my upper body pretty well.
7 minutes into the ride I had no feeling in my legs. It's a 15 minute ride to work.
I barely made it. I don't think I could've lasted another 5 minutes. When I got there, I couldn't get off my bike... My legs didn't want to cooperate.
After arriving at my destination I found out it was 31 degrees.
Tomorrow I think I'll wear long johns.
I had a dentist appointment today, so I had to take the latter part of the day off of work. Time for my 6 month fang cleaning.
My dentist is in Hancock which is 55 miles away. I like the drive though, it gets me out of here for a while. I had wanted to ride my motorcycle, but it was raining today.
I took the long way home, through Baraga, where there just happens to be an Indian casino. I won a little over $200 at the Blackjack table in about 3 hours.
I have yet to see a Star Wars 3 movie commercial on TV. But they sure are airing a lot of Star War's product commercials... Some of them are damn funny.
The Chewbacca ring tone commercial is funny: PLAY
The Yoda / diet Pepsi commercial is funnier: PLAY
But the Darth Vader / M&M commerical is by far the best: PLAY
This one deserves an honorable mention: PLAY
This music video shows more about the upcoming movie than any of the trailers, and is organized in a better fashion: PLAY
I have a terrible feeling that this movie is going to suck, and that Dark Vader will only appear for a few moments in the end.
I got my motorcycle road worthy today. I spent most of yesterday putting on new parts I've bought over the winter: a new seat, windshield, handle bars, rear luggage trunk, and a new front fork tool bag. I still need to install a new horn and front and rear tires.
This morning I rolled it out of the garage and got it going. It didn't require too much. I just needed to recharge the battery, tighten and lube the chain, and prime the carbs. It started up pretty quick.
I put about 50 miles on it today. Not a lot, but a good first ride for the season.
Its after 5am. I've been up since 3am. My grandmother woke me up to take her to the ER. I still don't know what was wrong with her. She thinks she is having some sort of allergic reaction.
I'm going back to bed.
I'm not one to get involved with the politics of a matter, especially around Vampire Rave. Sorry, I'm above it. I created this place and I'm not about to get bogged down in the fodder of others.
I'm a little bit perplexed with the goings on of the contest. I never said people couldn't work together. It's not something I could've enforced anyway. But the level of what has and is happening astounds me.
There is one prize. The nature of the prize makes it a prize that is impossible to share. Anyone that helps another person in this contest is only hurting themselves. There are only a few scenarios under which people would help one another in this contest. None of them are appealing:
I just finished working on the new VR contest... A little over 13 hours to spare.
This one was a lot of work. Several thousand lines of code. I don't think I will be doing too many more of these.
I am very curious to see how well people do. I made it very, very hard.
